Baked Apples

Serves 6

6 Granny Smith apples
2 T raisins
2 T pure maple syrup
1 T cinnamon, or to taste
2T sprouted 100 percent whole-grain flourless almond cold cereal (Ezekiel 4:9 cereal)
2T pure water, or as needed

Preheat oven to 325 degrees if using a glass baking pan, or to 350 degrees if using a metal pan.

Soak raisins in maple syrup for 5-10 minutes at room temperature

While the raisins are soaking, peel a 1/2-inch deep ring around the stem of each apple. Prick two sides of each apple with a fork to allow the steam to escape. Core the apples using an apple corer three-fourths of the way down each apple.

Add some cinnamon to the raisin-maple syrup mixture. Fill each apple hole with this mixture. Top the apples with the almond cereal. Pour leftover syrup around and over the apples. Add water around the apples.

Bake the apples uncovered for about 45 minutes or until they are soft to the touch. Serve warm.
